Mahkota pada Castle

Game Age of Empire II The Conquerrors mempunyai banyak negara atau peradaban dengan kelebihan dan kelemahan masing-masing. Di setiap castle terdapat mahkota yang menandakan upgrade teknologi unik. Setiap civilization memiliki mahkota tersediri dengan fungsi yang berbeda. Di antara kelebihan tersebut akan terlihat jelas setelah kita upgrade mahkota pada castle yang dilakukan pada zaman imperial.

  1. Aztecs : Infantri and Monk (Garland Wars--> Infantri have + 4 attack)
  2. Briton : Foot Archer Civilization (Yeomen--> Foot Archer + 1 range, Towers have +2 attact)
  3. Bizantines : Defensive Civilization (Logistica--> Cataphract cause tremple damage)
  4. Celts : Infantri Civilization (Furor Celtica--> Siege Workshop Unit have 50% hit point)
  5. Chinese : Archer Civilization (Rocketry--> Chu Ko Nu have +2 Piercing Attack, Scorpion have + 4 Piercing Attack)
  6. Frank : Cavalry Civilization (Bearded Axe--> Throwing Axe Man have + 1 range)
  7. Goth : Infantry Civilization (Ferpusion--> Barrack Units can created 50% faster)
  8. Huns : Cavalry Civilization (Atheism--> Researching spies/ treason Technology 50% less)
  9. Japanese : Infantry Civilization (Kataparuto--> Trebuchet Fire Pack/ Unpack 50% Faster)
  10. Koreans : Tower and Naval Civilization (Sinkichon--> Mangonel, Onager, Siege Onager have + 2 range) 
  11. Mayans : Archer Civilization (Eldorado--> Eagle Wariors have + 40 hit point)
  12. Mongol : Cavalry Archer Civilization (Drill--> Siege Workshop Unit move 50% Faster)
  13. Persians : Cavalry Civilization (Mahouts--> War Elephant 30% move Faster)
  14. Saracens : Camel and Naval Civilization (Zealotry--> Camel and Mameluke have +30 hit point)
  15. Spanish : Gunpowder and Monk Civilization (Supremacy--> Villagers have exceptional combat abilities)
  16. Teuton : Infantry Civilization (Crenelations--> Castle have + 3 range, garissoned infantry fire arrows)
  17. Turks : Gunpowder Civilization (Artillery--> Bombar Towers, Bombar Cannons, and Cannon Galleons have + 2 range)
  18. Viking : Infantry and Naval Civilization (Berserkergang--> Berserk Regenerate Faster)

Kelebihan-kelebihan tersebut akan terlihat ketika pemain melakukan upgrade mahkota pada castle. Sedangkan Archer Civilization, Infantry Civilization, Naval Civilization, dan sebagainya adalah kelebihan bangsa tertentu pada umumnya.

Di dalam permainan, kelebihan-kelebihan tersebut sebisa mungkin dimanfaatkan dengan memperhatikan kondisi musuh atau lawan bermain. Contoh, kita sedang memainkan Teuton yang memiliki infantri sangat kuat di AOE 2. Tidak tepat jika pasukan infantri digunakan untuk  melawan Archer (kecuali Huskarl), Cavalry Archer, dan Gunpowder yang mempunyai range lebih jauh. Demikian juga Archer dengan jumlah yang sedikit akan kalah oleh Cavalry atau Onager.
